Table Top Loft
Studio Loft Apartment
Design Brief
To create a small footprint studio apartment using reclaimed materials to create a rural rustic charm vibe. The apartment would be used for guest quarters for short and long term stays.
From the Builder
The Table Top Loft was built on a rural property over looking Table Top Mountain to the North East. Reclaimed hardwood from an old barn sourced from a local salvage yard was used for exposed rafters in the skillion roof line. The reclaimed hardwood was also used for the loft exposed sub-floor, the stairway and the front patio. The wood features added to the 'rural rustic charm' vibe the clients were aiming for. The front patio was designed to make the most of the winter sun while still allowing for shade in summer with a partial hard roof to keep the weather off and partial deciduous vine covered for winter sun on the Northern windows. The apartment was clad in weatherboard on the main viewing faces and corrugated iron on the West and South sides to keep with the rural feel of the property.
“Our studio apartment had exceeded our expectations both in use and looks being very usable for our visitors and also very impressive with our guests commenting on the stunning rustic hardwood features in the apartment. We are very happy with our new loft apartment”.
